The relationship between red blood cell distribution width and isolated coronary ectasia

چکیده

Aim: Isolated coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is an abnormal dilatation of the which cause ischemia. RDW has been investigated in several cardiovascular disorders and also recently proposed as a predictive biomarker adverse outcomes patients with these conditions. We hypothesized that increased would be associated isolated CAE because both are inflammation.
Material Methods: studied 140 subjects, including 69 CAE, 71 angiographically normal controls. Baseline clinical characteristics laboratory findings, RDW, were compared among two groups.
Results: The level was significantly higher than controls (14,36±1,61vs 13,59±1.57, p=0.005). In addition, levels glomerular filtration rate creatinin, high density lipoprotein low lower (76,43±19,64 vs 100,36±18,3 0,9±0,28 0,74±0,25, 43,39±10,09 48,4±13,67, 121,36±32,05 143,70±55,33 p=0,001, p=0,01, p=0,004 respectively). ROC curve analysis, value 13,5 identified effective cut off point for discrimination presence or absence (Area Under [AUC]: 0.71, CI 95%, 0.62-0.80, p

Relationship between red cell distribution width levels and severity of coronary artery ectasia.

OBJECTIVE Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is defined as abnormal dilatation of coronary arteries. Inflammation is thought to be important in the pathogenesis of CAE. Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is also an inflammatory marker. In this study, we examined the association between RDW levels and CAE severity. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 6737 patients who were admitted to the Cardiolo...

Investigating the Relationship between Red Blood Cell Distribution Width and Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer and Colonic Polyps

Background: Colorectal cancer is a common cancer and has a high rate of mortality and morbidity. This can be reduced by screening tests. Some of the studies have recently referred to Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW) as a marker for early detection of various cancers. The aim of this study was to investigate the RDW and early detection of colorectal cancer and polyp. M...

Red Blood Cell Distribution Width in Acute Coronary Syndromes

Objective: RDW is a measure of the variation of red blood cell width, reported as part of standard complete blood count; many paper reported results about the role of RDW in heart failure; the role of RDW in Acute Coronary Syndromes (ACS) is less known. Methods: We enrolled 173 consecutive patients, admitted to the coronary care unit of our hospital, with a diagnosis of obstructive ACS, documen...

Association between Red Blood Cell Distribution Width and Acute Pancreatitis

BACKGROUND We aimed to determine whether there are any alterations in red blood cell width in patients diagnosed with acute pancreatitis. MATERIAL/METHODS This was a retrospective study of records of patients treated in emergency units and diagnosed with acute pancreatitis between January 2011 and April 2013. Records were investigated regarding patient age, sex, and causes of acute pancreatit...

Relationship between the red blood cell distribution width and risk of acute myocardial infarction.

AIMS Recently, a number of studies have shown an increased red blood cell distribution width (RDW) to be a strong and independent predictor of the prognosis of coronary artery disease. The aim of this study was to investigate the underlying mechanisms responsible for the relationship between the RDW and a poor prognosis of coronary artery disease. METHODS Four hundred and twenty-four patients...
